Cornish Tiger’s latest foody offerings are the perfect solution to any autumnal blues.
Chef Netish Nunnan’s updated selection continues the Battersea restaurant’s fusion of British classics with Asian and African twists.
The warmly-lit restaurant is filled with the comforting aroma of classic British food, but their roast meats have just enough spice to avert any sense of conservatism and there is no shortage of flavour.
My major recommendation would be to ask for help.
Without the helpful waiting staff I would have taken all night to choose and left a puddle of drool in my wake.
The food which they are so enthusiastic about certainly doesn’t disappoint.
I plumped for a starter of duck and date terrine with prune and Armagnac puree served with homemade brioche and a glass of Ruggeri prosecco.
TASTY: Duck and date terrine with prune and Armagnac puree
The dish looked incredibly appetising. The sweetness of the whole date was a little overwhelming but it dovetailed with the saltiness of the duck terrine and the homemade brioche was a great little addition.
My cannon of lamb, with peas, wild mushrooms, Cornish royals, wild garlic purée and Harissa jus was, in the words of Peter Kay, a taste sensation.
It combined homeliness and warmth perfectly with sharp flavour and lively spice. This was paired with a rich red wine which complemented it beautifully.
TENDER: Spicy African-style mains
The lamb was both flavoursome and melt-in-the-mouth tender, all wrapped up in the delightful spicy Harissa jus.
Having opted for lamb I thought the chocolate fondant would perhaps prove too rich however served with vanilla ice cream and strawberries it was the perfect way to round the meal off.
RICH: Chocolate pudding rounded the meal off
And if you’re looking for a nightcap Cornish Tiger’s hot cocktails are the perfect way to keep the chills at bay.
