The tenth Streatham food festival will be held this week.
The event celebrates the variety of food on offer in Streatham and highlights the restaurants, cafes and bars in the heart of the community.
The four-day festival starting on Thursday is sponsored by Virgin Active and funded by InStreatham BID, a not for profit company created by local businesses, for local businesses.
BID Manager Louise Abbotts said: “Streatham food festival was set up 10 years ago to celebrate the wonderfully diverse food offer that Streatham has on its doorstep.
“We are hugely lucky to be part of such a wonderful community and Instreatham wants to support the hard working independent businesses by showcasing their delicious food to residents and visitors alike.”
The festival includes the Streatham Food Tour which offers visitors the opportunity to try a range of cuisines including British, Thai, Mexican and Venezuelan all on one high road.
Around forty restaurants will be offering mini plates and participating restaurants include Café Barcelona, Saigon Bistro, Vegan Express, Talay Thai and Pratts and Payne.
The Streatham Food Fair will be held on June 22 from 12pm – 7pm on Streatham Green. The whole family can be entertained with some of the best local food traders, music and face painting. There will be stalls by Wren Cakes, Chocolates by Eloise, Fish Tale, Surrey Ices, Bun Kabab and local businesses Streatham Wine House and Chalkpit.
Louise said: “With over 40 different restaurants offering taster dishes all for under £5 this is a great reason to skip the cooking. Streatham is a foodie destination and we encourage people who have never been to get involved this year and share our love of food and friendship.”
