London-based company set out to revolutionise rice pudding

If I asked you to think of rice pudding, you would probably conjure up images of a gloopy, uninspiring mess, something that the school lunch ladies may have slopped onto your tray for your lunch pudding, or perhaps you’d say it’s reminiscent of bland baby food.

You probably aren’t wrong, but Rizz Rice have made it their mission to transform this opinion by reinventing rice pudding into a delightful treat that’s worthy of a space on your dinner party menu.

Rizz Rice is Britain’s first rice pudding bar, dedicated to transforming the humble dish into a dessert that both blends British traditions with global inspiration.

The team aims to reignite the passion and love for a dessert seemingly forgotten about, presenting it in a fresh, modern light.

Director of Rizz Rice Jayson Jansen Van Vuuren said: “We want people to see rice pudding in a new light.

“For some, it’ll be about reliving a childhood moment with their favorite flavours from around the world. For others, it’ll be trying something brand new, unexpected, and bursting with originality.”

Rizz Rice’s offerings, affectionately known as pots and balls, strike the perfect balance of freshness and indulgence. The goal is to encapsulate the notion of ‘treat yourself’ in a colourful and wholesome way.

Iona Jenkins, Rizz Rice team member said: “It’s about just absolutely having to have it, that favorite dish you had with your family at home, but haven’t even thought about since TikTok puddings became all the rage. It’s evocative, and it’s tasty.”

The rice puddings that Rizz Rice have created are unique in their flavours and all their pots are vegetarian and vegan.

From Mexican arroz con leche and nutty Thai black sticky rice to the creamy pudding served with a dollop of strawberry jam reminiscent of childhood, the pots from Rizz Rice allow you to taste nostalgia with every spoon.

Jayson added: “We also make sure no rice pudding goes to waste by making sweet arancini balls with leftover rice.

“They’re made fresh to order on-site, and are air fried to perfection with a crispy exterior and a warm, gooey interior.”

Rizz Rice prides itself on offering limited edition seasonal flavors at their street food stalls, next seen at FeastyFest in Cheam Park, alongside their classic flavours and zero-waste sweet arancini.

For corporate events, Rizz Rice offers a fully customisable experience, from branded cups to bespoke rice pudding flavours and also offer their delicious desserts at private events too.
