Award-winning Putney songstress reveals dream to pursue music career full-time

A Putney musician took to the stage in Wimbledon Village this week in the latest leg of her London gigging tour.

Katie Nicholas performed self-penned country-pop songs including Chemistry, Sweet Talk and Love to an intimate audience at Hemingway’s Lounge Bar on Tuesday.

The Liverpudlian-born songstress is an ad designer based in Putney and has high hopes to pursue music full-time.

The 20-year-old had a promising start to her career receiving the Michael Molloy Music Award from the Mayor of Liverpool in 2013.

She also hit more than 100,000 views with her first independently-produced music video Chemistry.

This drew the attention of former Sony producer Daniel Vujevic, now of Disney, who funded a trip to Belgrade in order to collaborate.

Katie told South West Londoner: “It is my dream to become a prolific songwriter, able to deliver original music while maintaining my personal, unique brand.”

Gig-goer Kieran Thomas, 31, said “Katie’s music was beautiful and she interacted very humbly with the audience.

“I really hope she makes it, she certainly deserves it.”

Katie’s album Dizzy made waves earlier this year with her lead track Chemistry reaching number one in the UK and Irish HotDisc chart.

She also runs online community Busy Bee which aims to help creative independent artists create a buzz around their music, without the aid of a major company.
