This years festive pantomime will be coming to Richmond Theatre with a twist this Christmas with a line-up getting it ‘just right’.
Best known for presenting Countryfile and The One Show, Matt Baker will star in the extravaganza putting a circus spin on the beloved Goldilocks and the Three Bears fairy tale.
From the 3 to 31 December, the Theatre will be transformed into a sensational spectacle packed with riotous comedy, extraordinary special effects and wowing acrobatic tricks.
Baker said: “You take a theatre like Richmond Theatre, it is so beautiful and has so much tradition.
“The place is steeped in it and you feel it when you’re there.
“There’s such a lovely ambience, it seems to me to be a very welcoming place.
“I’m really excited for families to come and enjoy the experience.
“We’ll all just be having fun together, that’s the magic of theatre you know, that’s why you’ve got to go and experience it.”
Having previously played the role in 2019 at The Palladium, Baker will be reprising his acrobatic skills with unicycles, juggling, and daring tightropes as he described his fascination for circus traditions ‘seemed to encompass everything that I love.’
A production perfect for the family, Baker also credited pantos as part of his household’s much-loved Christmas traditions.
Playing alongside Baker will be Tamara Morgan as the titular role of Goldilocks.
Jessica Martin will star as baddie Countess Von Winklebottom, esteemed pantomime performer Nigel Ellacott as Dame Betty Barnum, and the hilarious Phil Walker as Ringo the Ringmaster.
Produced by Michael Harrison, the classic tale takes a twist as Goldilocks’ circus is under threat from an evil rival circus owner.
With the help of their madcap friends, they battle to rescue their Big Top from ruin with the help of three bashing bears.
