Road closures and heightened police presence in central London following Queen’s death

Londoners can expect road blocks and road closures as the Metropolitan Police initiate their policing and security operation across the capital following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Additional police officers will be posted outside key locations, including transport hubs, Royal Parks and outside Royal Residences in central London.

Road closures are being established at a number of locations in Westminster. The Met are working closely with Westminster City Council and Transport for London to minimise any disruption.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said: “This operation will be highly visible, particularly in Westminster and areas around Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park.

“Those visiting London are asked to remain vigilant and report any concerns to police officers on duty.”

The latest information for those travelling to the Royal Residences is available on the Royal Household’s website

If you see or hear anything that doesn’t feel right, you can contact the police by dialling 101, or call 999 if it is an emergency. You can also contact the Met by tweeting @MetCC on Twitter, or report crimes online via the Met’s website.
