A football club based in Hounslow are hosting a 12-hour charity match this weekend to raise money for motor neurone disease.
CB Hounslow United FC, who played in the Combined Counties Premier Division North this season, are hosting the event at their ground Green Lane on Saturday from 9am to 9pm.
The aim is to raise £2,000 for the charity Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) with a JustGiving page currently having raised almost £500.
The event was organised by first team Peter Morris, an active fundraiser for MNDA, after his friend was diagnosed with the disease.
Morris said: “I can’t just sit back and watch my friend struggle without doing something.
“Every time I see them it breaks my heart, because every time I see them they deteriorate.”
The event will not just be the match itself, but a day for the whole family, with a bar, barbecue, face painting and even a bouncy castle.
Anyone attending will be asked to donate £10, with a smaller donation of just 10-50p for children under 10.
Morris has already held one fundraiser during Brentford’s 3-0 win over Southampton at the Brentford Community Stadium on 7 May, which he described as very rewarding.
