Scotland, particularly the west of the country, has a large number of natives who claim Italian roots from immigrant ancestors.
With this came an influx of Italians starting businesses, from some of the best fish and chip shops you can find to family run restaurants. Trattoria Roma in Johnstone, Renfrewshire is one of these.
With a cosy rustic feel and a welcoming staff this trattoria definitely lives up to its award-winning status. The recently-renovated eatery bagged the title of Scotland’s Best Trattoria last year at the 8th annual Scottish Italian Awards.
It’s not hard to see why. They boast some of the most mouthwatering pasta dishes that will leave you feeling utterly full but at the same time wanting to finish every last bite.
Their Mia Casa Penne was every pasta lover’s dream. A simple penne pasta with creamy garlic and chilli sauce with chicken, mushroom, onion and broccoli, a fairly basic dish that packs a punch in its flavour.
You can’t go wrong with a creamy pasta dish in my opinion, it comes out magnificent each and every time and Trattoria Roma is no exception here.
I will definitely be back to sample what other Italian delicacies this stunning restaurant has to offer.
