With Mother’s Day this Sunday, here are some ideas based in south west London for those stuck for ideas on what to do this year.
We’ve thought about every different type of mum!
Fine Dining
Wine and dine your mum at The Petersham Restaurant in Richmond where mums go free for bookings after 4:00pm.
Their specialty is gourmet British meals with a modern twist cooked by top chefs.
Based right near Richmond Park and overlooking the Thames through panoramic windows in the restaurant this is the perfect way to enjoy your mum’s special day.
Perhaps have a wander and see some deer in the park or a take a rowboat out on the Thames after a hearty meal and enjoy your family day.
Brunch
Treat your mum at the Ivy Café Richmond with an all-new limited edition Mother’s Day Floral Macron – a raspberry, almond and pistachio macron filled with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce.
With ten different menus and a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options you really cannot go wrong here, even for picky eaters.
A beautifully presented eating area will make for a lovely setting for what will be a great time for all.
Wine Tasting
Wine mums look no further, book a visit to London Cru Winery for a wine tasting course.
For a sophisticated bit of fun with the family you can all get a little tipsy together while tasting the fineries of London wine.
Just make sure you book a cab back too!
Music
Head to Croydon if your mum loves jazz because Croham Hurst Golf Club are hosting a jazz event from 1pm till 5pm.
Order a three-course meal alongside and listen to hits performed by Louise Cookman and the world class Hurst Quartet.
Perhaps play some golf while you’re there too!
Theatre
If your mum is a fan of live theatre the Brixton House has it covered with a new interactive live performance called Station.
It combines film, music and performances celebrating diasporic histories, heritage and culture.
On Sunday 27th it includes musicians Laurie Mompelat and Fran Lobo who will be accompanied by poetry performances.
Gallery/Museum
Hogarth’s House is brilliant for the mum who loves culture and history.
Famous painter, satirist and engraver William Hogarth’s home makes for an extremely interesting visit where you can learn something with your mum that neither of you knew before.
There is also a new exhibition, William Hogarth’s Animals, starting Tuesday 29th for those who may be celebrating a belated Mother’s Day.
Riverboat Ride
Hop into a boat at Richmond Bridge Boat Hire with your mum and your family, perhaps after eating out at The Petersham, and take a leisurely float down the River Thames.
It makes for some great photos with your family and even better memories, just don’t fall in!
Garden Centre
Petersham Nurseries Garden centre is ideal for plant mums.
With a massive range of beautiful plants, you can buy for her and a café at the end it has all the ingredients for a lovely day out and making a plant lover’s home that much greener!
Botanical Gardens
The famous Kew Gardens are always lovely for a walk, especially when its with your lovely mum.
Spend some quality time with her and have a lovely walk through the endless natural beauty for all to see.
Go on a walk
Richmond Park is an excellent place to start when thinking about beautiful places to spend time with your mum.
Walking through and seeing all sorts of plants and wildlife can be very therapeutic while you and your mum chat and explore.
Bushy Park and Hampton Court Park are more gems of south west London’s greenery too where you can get away from city life and experience mother nature with your mother!
