WATCH: Ukrainian restaurant in Twickenham sets up humanitarian collection

A Ukrainian-themed restaurant in Twickenham, is collecting and transporting supplies to those impacted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The restaurant has become a hub of humanitarian aid, with donations of food, hygiene items and medical equipment arriving from across south west London.

Volunteers at Prosperity then organise items and pack them into vans that will transport them to the Poland-Ukraine border.

Though the operation has been well-supported, its organisers believe it can only succeed if ceasefires which allow items to reach civilians are observed.

South West Londoner spoke to those involved with the collection to find out more.

Further information can be found on the Prosperity Restaurant Facebook and Instagram pages.

Great efforts by Prosperity and the local community but a disgrace that Richmond Council have refused Discretionary Business Rate Relief for the period the business is given over to this project. This is entirely contrary to the support and goodwill of the community they should represent.
