South West Londoner interviews Sven-Hanson Britt, the 2019 winner of Masterchef: The Professionals, who opened his restaurant Oxeye in Vauxhall this October.
Inspired by the Derbyshire countryside, Britt tells us more about Oxeye’s seasonal ingredients, art gallery, and extensive English wine list.
On site their wine bar, Bar Rex, features over 200 English, Welsh and Irish wines that you can drink whilst you ponder art in their gallery, or relax on their outdoor terrace.
The restaurant is open Thursday through Saturday, and the chefs spend Wednesday foraging in the English countryside and sourcing produce from artisanal producers in South Derbyshire.
Items on the menu change daily depending on what is in season, with an English wine paired with each course. For Britt, the “biggest inspiration is what’s happening outside the window,” and he is currently incorporating the colours of autumn into his plates.
