Get ready for a day packed full of sustainable and vintage fashion at Hammersmith Vintage Fair, with treasures waiting to be found.
Established in 1999 as the first vintage fair the event features approximately 60 leading vintage fashion dealers who come together in Hammersmith to share their collections.
The event is due to take place tomorrow, Sunday 24th October, from 10am–5pm at the Hilton London Olympia Hotel with a £5 admission charge.
Alberto Ricca managing director of P&A Antiques Ltd said: “Visited by many at the fore-front of fashion, the fair has something for everyone whether the budget big or small.
“It has become a Mecca for fashion designers, costumiers, models, trend–spotters, vintage fans and fashion students.”
The fair, which takes place every five to six weeks, sees exhibitors travel across the south west and east of England and visitors can expect to find everything from high–end designer brands, to high street vintage labels and emerging vintage brands.
Katie Black founder of Leila Ray Vintage said: “We are best known for our handmade vintage linen embroidered blouses.
“Inspired by the urgent need to create more sustainable practices in fashion, we reuse and rework vintage textiles to create stunning bohemian blouses in vintage 70s styles.
“For the October fair we will feature our latest handmade vintage blouses as vintage crochet and embroidery details are extremely popular currently.
“At this time of year retro vintage knitwear is in demand, as is winter outwear including classic wool coats, capes and ponchos and we love luxe natural fibres so silk shirts will feature too.”
Katie said that often visitors are blown away by the exotic, electric displays of the high quality vintage pieces.
Leila Ray Vintage moved from Kensington a few years ago and their now coastal Dorset location strongly influences the colour and decorative embroidery themes of their collections.
In 1999 the fair was organised by Paola Francia–Gardiner an experienced antique– dealer who used to buy, sell and wear vintage fashion in the 70s.
The fair will also feature Evelyn Jean Vintage who have a passion for 70s and 80s fashion and are aiming to stop landfill.
Tamzin Reid business owner of Evelyn Jean Vintage said: “Our edit for Hammersmith Vintage Fair, will all be about layering.
“We will be bringing day dresses and cosy knits topped with a well-tailored jacket.
“For the evening we will be bringing a very studio 54 edit, so lots of sparkle!
“It will be all about sequins, gold and silver with maxi dresses in abundance.”
