A 15-year-old boy has died in hospital after a double stabbing in Wandsworth yesterday afternoon.
Two teenagers, both aged 15 and yet to be identified, were found with knife injuries at 4.58pm yesterday near Garratt Lane Burial Ground.
The incident, which is not thought to be terror related, was the result of an altercation outside Sainsbury’s at around 4:50pm.
Detective Superintendent Owain Richards said: “My thoughts are first and foremost with the family of the young boy who lost his life.
“This is understandably a shocking incident that will have deep impact on the wider community.”
Specialist Crime Command Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall added: “My deepest condolences are with the family of this young man.
“ I want to reassure them that my team and I are working to give them the answers they deserve.”
Ambulances attended the scene and took the teenagers, both believed to be 15 to hospital, where the first later died.
The other victim remains in hospital with sustained but not life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile police have arrested two men, one aged 19 on suspicion of GBH and another aged 17 for affray.
Both remain in custody pending an ongoing investigation by Specialist Crime detectives.
As of 5.58pm last night Wandsworth was placed on a Section 60 order, and road closures remain in place.
