A Putney family won front row seats to Britain’s Got Talent’s semi-final last month thanks to Polka theatre patron Amanda Holden.
The Randles family won the money-can’t-buy tickets in a charity prize draw to raise money for the Polka Theatre’s redevelopment project, due for completion in 2020.
The grand prize was donated by Polka patron and BGT judge Amanda Holden who enjoyed many productions at the Wimbledon theatre with her oldest daughter Lexi and has been backing the £1 million fundraising campaign.
Winning mother Lisa Randles who attended the glamorous event with her daughter Jessica, 12, son Sam, 11, and Sam’s friend said: “On the night of BGT we had front row seats, and Amanda’s team went out of their way to make us feel like VIPs, they were so lovely!
“Amanda and all of the judges were warm and friendly, and Jessica even got to sit in Simon Cowell’s chair!”
The starry-eyed family also got to rub shoulders with Amanda’s fellow judges David Walliams and Alesha Dixon during the break, with youngest Randles member Sam describing the experience as: ‘Muy fantistico!’
As a south west London family, the Randles have attended many productions at Polka Theatre, which opened as the UK’s first child dedicated playhouse in 1979.
Jessica Randle said “I loved every performance and especially the breath-taking view from the front row! Thank you Amanda and Polka!”
The renovated Polka designed by architect Tim Foster intends to make drama and learning through play accessible to children of all abilities and therefore includes specially designed features such as a creative learning space and a multi-sensory garden.
Amanda Holden said “As a Patron it is a real pleasure to support Polka Theatre with its fundraising campaign and give the Randles family a special experience of BGT as competition winners.”
