Police are renewing an appeal for witnesses to an assault near Waterloo Station in November last year which left the victim in a critical condition.
The victim, 27, remains in hospital in a critical condition after the attack on Mepham Street at around 11pm on November 1.
He was seen asking for cigarettes outside the station’s main entrance and appeared upset and crying but was not causing any concern.
An altercation occurred with a woman who took offence before the suspect approached.
Another argument ensued before the suspect and victim walked to Mepham Street where the victim was punched in the face causing him to hit his head on the floor.
The suspect was then seen running through a nearby archway towards the Imax cinema.
Detective Constable Alex Atkinson said: “Four months on, the victim remains in hospital where he is receiving ongoing medical treatment for life-threatening injuries.
“We have carried out extensive enquiries to locate the man who was captured on CCTV fleeing the scene of this cowardly attack. Due to the location, it is possible that the man lives outside of London and may commute via Waterloo.
“Do you recognise him or the description of his clothing? I am also yet to hear from the woman who was at the scene.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact us.”
He was described as a white man with a southern English or Cockney accent who is between 20 and 30 years old, 6ft 2in and stocky with short fair hair.
He was wearing a red adidas hoodie with a white logo in the middle with blue jeans and white trainers and carried a black gym bag.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Central South Command Unit via 101, quoting reference 8498/01Nov18 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
