A Balham pub which is said to be one of Ed Sheeran’s earliest performance venues has honoured the star with a new street art mural.
The Bedford Pub are showing off their historic part in the rise of the singer songwriter with a brand-new display of artwork in the yard.
The vision was brought to life by Pegasus Street Artist after the pub underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment to give it a sleek aesthetic with art deco and 70s style.
Having been closed for five months, the Grade II refurbished building will house five bars, four private rooms, a ballroom, live music club and 15 bedrooms upstairs.
As well as an £80,000 sound system, there will be 250-capacity music club and a cocktail bar.
Also the renowned home to Banana Cabaret, London’s longest running comedy club, the pub has featured performances from Eddie Izzard, Michael McIntyre and Frank Skinner, as well as music from Sam Smith.
Back in 2010 when Sheeran could just about scrape 21 likes, he spoke excitedly about the venue on Twitter:

The singer songwriter still looks back with fondness at his time at The Bedford.
He said: “I loved played at The Bedford in Balham – it was such an important venue on the circuit and always had great acts playing every night. It holds fond memories for me and I look forward to coming back one day.”
The Bedford in Balham will re-open 3 December 2018.
