Celebrated cultural critic and bestselling author Roxane Gay will appear on stage for the first time in the UK at an event at Southbank Centre next month.
Gay will be in conversation with Liv Little of gal-dem magazine at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Monday 10 December.
She is the author of Bad Feminist and Hunger as well as works of fiction including The World of Wakanda for Marvel.
In 2015, Gay was the recipient of the PEN America Freedom to Write Award for demonstrating ‘exceptional courage in the defense of free expression.’ She has contributed to numerous publications, and her fiction has been widely anthologised.
gal-dem magazine launched in September 2015, and all of the content is produced by women and non-binary people of colour.
Gay’s most recent book, Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body, captures the experiences, traumas and attitudes which have shaped Gay’s changing relationship with her body and what they reveal about society as a whole. Her previous book, Bad Feminist, became a New York Times bestseller, exposing the inequalities of the present with insight and piercing wit.
Tickets for the event are £15-£35 and can be bought here.
