Comment: Donald Trump – the most chauvinistic president in the history of the USA?

Donald Trump wants the public to believe he has the greatest respect for women, yet his actions tell a far different story.

The man who sits in the most important seat in the entire world has an extensive history revolving around his mistreatment of women.

The controversy surrounding his actions has been a prominent part of his rise to success, even more so when his campaign for the presidency soared.

But the allegations made against him for differing reasons have almost been ignored, overlooked, disregarded even. Why is this?

For example, the world was outraged when Trump was caught on video telling another man “you can do anything to women when you’re famous.”

Years before that a woman named Jessica Leeds claimed Trump moved his hand up her dress “like an octopus” whilst seated next to her on a plane.

The list of women who have proposed severe accusations against Trump for sexual abuse totals up to 19, including his ex-wife Ivana Trump who used the word “rape” when talking about a particular encounter with her first husband.

Both the White House and Trump have denied the entirety of the allegations thrown towards the president.

When asked during a press conference, the White House’s press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated all the women confronting Trump were lying.

She then refused to go into any further details “at the current time”.

So when will the time be right? Many people all over the world are still awaiting those details that weren’t right to talk about “at that current time”.

The only other time Trump has mentioned these allegations was when he said none of the women are “attractive enough” for him to sexually assault.

Nice.

Ultimately, no matter how many articles are written about the sexual allegations made towards the President of the United States, he will stay where he is, continue to do what he is doing, and carry on saying what he says. Why is that?

Because he is a successful, white, rich man.

That’s what it all boils down to isn’t it?

Take Sir Phillip Green for instance, a retail tycoon who managed to make millions from the company BHS.

He committed many crimes including tax avoidance and the complete disregard of workers’ rights, leading to the demise of British Home Stores and many employees penniless.

Green and his family collected £586m in dividends, rental payments and interest on loans during their 15-year ownership of the retailer.

However, due to his authoritative position and perhaps knighthood too, he is currently living with his wife on a $150m yacht.

While his crimes have not gone unnoticed, they have been overlooked.

The only logical explanation must surely be his power in society.

Rather than focusing on the obvious crimes of the stereotypical criminals, shouldn’t the public’s focus be on those who help govern our society?

The ones who hold positions in which they’re given a platform to influence and give guidance to others, when perhaps, they’re in need of more guidance themselves.
