The Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy begins tomorrow, kicking off the British summer grass court season in style.
Eight days of world class tennis will descend on Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club, as top names such as Lleyton Hewitt and World No. 23 Nick Kyrgios join British talent including 2017 finalist Heather Watson and Davis Cup team member Liam Broady.
The Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy is a fantastic opportunity to see top talent and kick off the British grass-court season in style. Spectators go free during qualification weekend where after tickets start from £9.
Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club’s head coach, Tom Crisp, was recently awarded South East Coach of the Year, and spoke about his tennis story and what to look forward to at this year’s Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy.
Tom grew up in Twickenham and began playing tennis aged five. He started coaching when he was 13, assisting sessions at Surbiton Racket and Fitness Club, where he also played. Once he finished his A Levels, he began undertaking his LTA qualifications and took up coaching full time.
He said: “The impact the Surbiton Trophy has on our junior players is incredible. We get some massive names playing and it’s a great opportunity for our players to see top names playing live, at their own club.
“The transformation from tennis club to tournament venue is very special to see as our members get to watch world class tennis on the courts they train and play on everyday.
“The club has changed a huge amount; moving away from ‘members only’ to a friendly and welcoming place. We’re very keen to get more people playing sport and now run lots of tennis sessions in the local community.
“We’ll be running taster sessions on court during the Fuzion 100 Surbiton Trophy and are working with a local school to supply 100 ball crew for the tournament.”
