Labour emphatically tightened their grip on Hammersmith and Fulham Council last night, claiming nine more seats and welcoming a new cohort of first-time councillors.
They made all their gains from the Conservatives, who ended the night on 11 seats to Labour’s 35.
No other party managed to win a single seat and the UKIP candidates did not even stay long enough to hear the first ward declare at around 2:40am.
Turnout was 50,860, or 39%, which was an increase of 1% from 2014.
Labour MP for Hammersmith Andy Slaughter said: “This was a landslide. We haven’t had a result like this for over 30 years here.”
Labour have kept control of Hammersmith & Fulham Council.
