QPR’s struggles continued as Aston Villa came from behind to win 2-1 at Loftus Road.
Jamie Mackie had given the hosts and early lead, but Albert Adomah struck twice in rainy conditions to help Villa move to fifth in the Championship table.
QPR stay 15th, nine points from the relegation zone.
The Hoops started brightly, with Sam Johnstone forced to divert Jack Robinson’s long-range strike round the post.
With 17 minutes gone, Luke Freeman’s right-wing corner caused choas in the Villa box and Mackie home from close range.
Villa looked to force a quick equaliser, as Adomah wasted two good opportunities for the visitors.
Young striker Keinan Davis was proving a handful for the hosts, with Alex Smithies making two good saves from the attacker to maintain QPR’s advantage.
Josh Onomah was the next to go close, seeing his shot cannon off the bar.
Yet Villa’s pressure soon told, and Robinson was penalised for a handball in the box.
Adomah stepped up to rifle the resultant penalty into the roof of the net to ensure parity was restored on the stroke of half-time.
A similar pattern continued in the second half, as QPR were forced onto the defensive.
Yet it was Adomah who once again found the breakthrough.
Conor Hourihane’s weighted through-ball gave the Ghanaian international plenty of time to pick his spot as he fired into the far corner.
Robert Snodgrass could have doubled the lead after a defensive mistake, but sent his effort over the bar.
The Scotland international then played in Davis, who could only poke wide from a tight angle.
Adomah then wasted a hat trick chance after cutting in from the left, but fired at Smithies.
QPR could have stolen a point late on, but substitute Matt Smith’s header landed safely in Johnstone’s arms, and the hosts were then denied a penalty when the striker was pulled down in the box
