A Croydon midwife received the highest honour at the British Journal of Midwifery Practise Awards last week.
Memuna Sowe, of Croydon Health Services Trust, was named Midwife of the Year for her care and commitment towards helping some of the capital’s most vulnerable and underrepresented women.
The exceptional dedication and compassion of the capital’s midwives was highlighted as of the eleven awards, four winners were from London and another six were shortlisted.
Memuna was recognised alongside the achievements of other London midwives, such as Ealing’s Jessica Read who was nominated for an award in leadership.
Jessica from Ealing and Regional Maternity Lead for London said: “We are so proud of the fantastic work midwives in London are doing.
