Harlequins Foundation launches grants of up to £3K for healthy Twickenham communities

THE Harlequins Foundation has launched a grant programme rewarding happy and healthy communities aimed at Twickenham and Guildford.

The Brighter Futures Local Grants programme was launched on September 1 and is set to provide grants between £500 and £3,000 to organisations over the next 12 months.

The project wants to run in line with the Harlequins Foundation’s goal of creating sustainable pillars for the community, and build upon this to improve the lives of young people in the area.

Harlequins head of foundation Victoria Hartley said: “Community has always been at the heart of Harlequins and the club recognises it has a responsibility to ensure its impact is a positive one.”

She added: “We hope that the grants will enable local organisations to deliver support that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to do, through new projects, new equipment, new events, etc.

“We hope that it will build relationships and strengthen our links to a range of local community groups, charities and schools and demonstrate our commitment to supporting the local community.”

The project will support organisations located within a five-mile radius of the Twickenham Stoop and the Harlequins training ground in Guildford through an application process.

The foundation was established in 2015, and has always had aims to create a project that would support surrounding communities, and ensure young people are given the best opportunities to reach their full potential and learn new skills.

Applications are open until Monday October 30, and successful applicants will be contacted by November 10.
