WWE legend X-Pac makes his IPW:UK debut at the Clapham Grand on Sunday in what is expected to be his final match in the UK.
The 44-year-old, otherwise known as Sean Waltman, has enjoyed a stellar career since debuting in WWE 24 years ago.
This Sunday he teams up with Scott Star and Chakara against Sammy Smooth, Adam ‘Flex’ Maxted and Livvii Grace in a six-person tag contest.
IPW:UK promoter Daniel Edler said: “X-Pac is someone I always wanted to get on a show and I am so pleased to finally do it.
“I saw some photos of him recently and he is in such great shape. Obviously he is coming to the end of his in-ring career and in the past few years he has protected his body by only doing tag matches.
“We know as well as he does, he could definitely do a singles match but he would probably be in a lot worse shape right now for it. He is protecting himself and being sensible and he can definitely still go.
“I saw a few matches from his last UK tour a couple of years ago and he really put a solid shift in and his physical appearance has only got better since then.”
Also making his IPW:UK debut is the ‘Innovator of Violence’, ECW icon Tommy Dreamer who faces Jimmy Havoc for the IPW:UK World Heavyweight Championship in the main event.
Mr Edler said: “I asked Jimmy if he had ever wrestled Tommy before and he said no, so I said ‘Right, OK, front and centre on the poster’, I want to make sure everyone knows it’s going to happen.
“Jimmy has had such a good year so far with the different things he has done, wrestling for NXT and then last weekend he was chosen to go to Atlanta, Georgia, to wrestle Cody Rhodes for the first time so he’s on a real roll and it seems a logical main event for a show called Extreme Measures.”
The card also features WWE UK Championship contender Pete Dunne facing off against former UFC fighter Matt Riddle, and Joey Ryan against Nixon Newell in what may be her last UK bout for some time as a move to WWE looks certain.
Extreme Measures is IPW:UK’s biggest show of the year and their largest ever in London.
The company had not planned a return to the capital after an unsuccessful show at Electric Brixton last year but if all goes well on Sunday they could make a new home for themselves at the Grand.
Mr Edler said: “Electric didn’t go quite as well as I wanted it to if I’m honest for a variety of reasons.
“It was a good show, just not a profitable one, so we thought we would shelve the idea and I had no real plans to go back to London until I saw about the Grand.
“We saw they hosted a Royal Rumble party and we thought if they are moving into the wrestling market maybe we could do a live event there.
“The transport links are great and it’s going to be a great show to film, on DVD it’s going to look great, so we thought we we’d give it another go.
“Sunday, touch wood, seems to be going a hell of a lot better. It will definitely be the biggest London show we’ve done.
“I’ve asked for a couple of dates to see if they are available for later in the year for a potential return.”
