Donald Trump has won the 2016 US Election making him the 45th President of the United States.
After a long campaign, Trump beat opponent Hillary Clinton to the 270 votes needed to win the White House.
The Republican candidate won the mid-west states as expected but also conquered the crucial battleground states necessary to take the presidency.
Trump beat Democrat Clinton to take the famous bellwether state Ohio – a win that has correctly predicted every president since 1960.
At 70, Trump has officially become the oldest candidate to take presidency at the first attempt, appealing to swathes of blue collar American workers across the country.
Clinton won: Connecticut (7), Oregon (7), New Mexico (5), Delaware (3), Vermont (3), District of Columbia (3), Hawaii (4), Rhode Island (4), Iowa (6), Colorado (9), Maryland (10), Massachusetts (11), Virginia(13), New Jersey (14), New York (29), Illinois (20), California (55), Nevada (6), Maine (4)
Trump won: Wyoming (3), West Virginia (5), Montana (3), North Dakota (3), Nebraska (3), Kansas (6), South Dakota (3), Mississippi (6), Arkansas (6), Idaho (4), Utah (6), Oklahoma (7), Missouri (10), Tennessee (11), Indiana (11), Washington (12), Ohio (18), North Carolina (15), Georgia (16), Florida (29), Texas (38), Pennsylvania (20), Alaska (3), Wisconsin (10)

Exit polls suggested that Trump’s policy regarding the economy is what won voters over.
Of the estimated 130-150 million Americans who turned out to vote, 59% of them said they thought the economy was they key issue of the election.
A national exit poll statistic showed Americans find Trump more trustworthy than Clinton, with 65% of people putting their faith in him, with only 59% of voters saying they trust Clinton more.
At one point in the night Clinton and Trump were neck and neck according to bookies, but to the surprise of many Trump, well…trumped it.
