Egham Town face St Albans City tomorrow for the chance to play in the FA Cup first round proper for the first time in their history.
It marks the second time Gary Meakin’s side have played in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, after they were defeated 2-0 by Telford in the 1991-2 season.
A crowd of around 500 people is expected to turn out for the game, including FA Chairman Greg Clarke.
St Albans play in the National League South, two tiers above the Sarnies, and Meakin knows his team will have to work especially hard for a win.
“This will be a chance for us to do some giant killing,” he said.
“It will also be an opportunity for the players to showcase themselves in front of Mr Clarke.”
Mr Clarke will attend the game days before he is due to appear before MPs to give evidence to the Media and Sport Select Committee after recent damaging revelations in the football world.
A win will also give the club the chance to appear on television in the next round.
They advanced to the final qualifying round after top scorer Brendan Matthew’s goal saw off Faversham Town in a replay last Tuesday (October 4).
Matthew has 12 goals in all competitions this season and will be looking to add to that tally tomorrow.
Egham currently lie 13th in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central and come off the back of a 2-0 win against Uxbridge.
The Sarnies have conceded just 10 league goals this season, tying them with Potters Bar for the best defensive record in the division.
The FA Cup clash against St Albans kicks off 3pm at The Runnymede Stadium.
