St Mary’s University student Charlie Grice makes his Olympic debut in the 1,500m in Rio 2016 today.
Round one will begin at 2:30pm and if the 22-year-old progresses, the semi finals take place on Friday at 12:45am and the finals on Sunday at 1am.
Brighton-born Grice won 1,500m silver at the European Under-23 Championships in 2013 before competing at both the Commonwealth Games and senior European Championships in 2014.
He won his first senior National title in the 1,500m aged 20, making him the youngest athlete to win the title, which he retained in 2015.
Ahead of Rio 2016 selection, Grice also competed in the Beijing World Championships in 2015 where he came ninth overall.
He also joined Teddington’s Mo Farah for training sessions in Ethiopia earlier this year.
