Seeking: One organist with exciting new ideas to bring music back to two Merton churches

A Merton parish is looking for a new organist to bring the music back to two of its churches.

Since their previous organist left just before Christmas, Merton Priory Team Ministry have been without someone on the keys and pipes at Christ Church in Colliers Wood and at St John the Divine in High Path in South Wimbledon.

Now they are after someone to fill that role and vicar of the two churches, Reverend Alison Judge, expects them to become a valued part of the congregation.

“Going without an organist these past few months hasn’t stopped us singing, but we want a permanent organist who will enjoy bringing in new ideas — a good musician and a people person,” she said.

“If someone is interested they should definitely get in contact with us.”

Revd Judge explained that the churches consider music to be an important part of worship thanks to its ability to lift the spirit.

“I think we’re a very supportive church, and the two organs are well maintained and in good order,” she added.

“Some people might think that organ playing is rather stuffy but we do like a wide variety of music here.”

Applications close on Monday June 6. Contact Revd Judge on 020 8616 5794 or [email protected] for more information.
