The British man on board the downed EgyptAir flight has been named as a former Kingston University student.
Richard Osman, 40, is believed to be one of the 56 passengers on board the flight from Pairs to Cairo, which went down of the coast of Egypt on Thursday.
A former pupil of Queen Elizabeth school in Carmarthen, Mr Osman went on to study at Kingston University and the Camborn school of mining in Cornwall before embarking on a career as a geologist.
He works as a business development manager for mining company Centamin and had just become a father for the second time.
“Richard was so happy at the birth of his second daughter, and yet two weeks later his is no longer with us – it’s an absolute tragedy,” His brother Alastair Osman, a biochemistry student at Swansea University, told The Telegraph.
“Of all the family I would’ve thought Richard would have been the last to go. He was incredibly fit and a workaholic and since leaving university he has never stopped.”
Mr Osman is thought to have been flying in to Egypt on a business trip when the plane disappeared.
Tributes to the Kingston University graduate have been shared on social media, the South Wales Evening Post reports.
The Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones said he was horrified to hear reports that a Welshman may be amongst the victims of the disaster.
Mr Osman reportedly has family in the Swansea area but is believed to have been living in Jersey with his two children and 36-year-old French-born wife Aurelie.
He is the oldest of his three siblings, Alistair, 35, Phillip, 34, and Anna, 32.
His late father Dr Mohamed Fekry Ali Osman and his wife, Anne, moved to Wales from Egypt to work as a consultant in ear, nose and throat surgery.
The Foreign Office earlier said it was in contact with the family of a British national believed to have been on board.
EgyptAir flight MS804 went down about halfway between the Greek island of Crete and Egypt’s northern coastline, authorities said.
All 66 people on board the flight are feared dead.
