Musical stars unite for open-air concert series at Royal Hospital for Chelsea Pensioners

Wet Wet Wet and Simply Red will join the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra for an open-air concert at the historic home of the Chelsea Pensioners this summer.

A portion of the Live at Chelsea ticket sales will go towards funding the care of the retired soldiers living at the Royal Hospital.

The event kicks off with a bang on Friday June 17 with the inaugural Chelsea Fireworks Prom.

Andy Hickling, MBE, director of estates, facilities, commercial & quartermaster at the Royal Chelsea Hospital said: “After a fantastic line up in 2015, we are delighted that we will be welcoming music fans to the Royal Hospital Chelsea again next summer.

“The historic home is one of London’s architectural gems and offers a stunning backdrop to the world-class artists who will be performing.”

The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will headline day one, with Wet Wet Wet taking centre stage on Saturday and Simply Red on Sunday.

Live at Chelsea will take place in a fully seated auditorium in the Royal Hospital Chelsea’s central courtyard.

The hospital itself was founded by King Charles II in 1682 and is home to the Chelsea Pensioners — 300 retired soldiers.

Money from ticket sales will also towards funding the maintenance of the hospital.

Tickets are on sale now at www.liveatchelsea.com from £40.
