Alan Dowson has challenged Hampton & Richmond Borough to keep smashing in the goals against Burgess Hill Town tomorrow as they close in on promotion.
The Ryman Premier side have won four of their last five games, scoring 17 goals in the process, and sit two points clear of East Thurrock United at the top of the table.
Tuesday’s 3-0 win at Brentwood Town moved their goal difference up to a healthy 42 — the same as second-placed rivals East Thurrock — but Dowson wants that to grow substantially to protect them at the end of the campaign.
“It is going to be very tight this season, so it is vital we keep scoring,” he said.
“We are two points ahead of East Thurrock, and we don’t want to be in a place where if we draw a game late on and they win they go ahead of us in the table.
“So goal difference is massive from here and it’s something we must work on.”
Meanwhile, seventh-placed Kingstonian’s promotion push continues with a trip to Harrow Borough tomorrow, after earning their first win in five games.
