Andy Murray has become a father after his wife Kim Sears gave birth to a baby girl, it has been reported.
The birth was reportedly on Sunday evening, less than a week after the British number one had to rush home from a tumultuous two weeks at the Australian open.
Murray left tennis fans around the world teary eyed with an emotional speech after losing again in the Australian Open final for the fifth time in seven years.
He told wife Kim, 28, he was going to be on the first flight home after a turbulent two weeks which was made worse by the health problems of his father-in-law, Nigel Sears, who was rushed to hospital after collapsing.
The 2013 Wimbledon champion said after the Australian Open his family would now be a priority but no matter the impact of the birth of his first child he still ‘loves tennis’.
No name has been confirmed but an announcement is expected shortly.
Murray will now be aiming to be back in action for the French Open in May, the only major event where the final two has eluded him.
