Tooting korfball players hope to retain the Europa Shield in Germany on Sunday.
Bec Korfball Club, the largest korfball club in the country, are among eight teams taking part in the Europa Shield in Castrop-Rauxel.
The competition, played over three days, starts on January Friday 22 and Davesh Patel, 38, wants a repeat of last year’s achievement when they became the first English winner since 2008.
The Bec coach said: “Last year, we qualified for it for the first time in our club´s history and it was a great experience.
“To come out at the end of it having not lost any game and to come away with top spot, that was a great achievement.
“Now we’re looking to back that up this year.
“We’re looking to win all our games, retain our top spot and bring back the cup and the medal.”
The competition involves the teams that finished second in their respective leagues across Europe and will be played at Schweriner Korfball Club.
Bec have been drawn in Pool B with Spanish side Castellbisbal, 1908 SZAC Budapest from Hungary and German outfit TuS Schildgen.
If they come in the top two places in their pool they qualify for Sunday’s knockout stage.
