A paedophile who abused young children in his care at Lambeth children’s home was jailed yesterday.
Leslie Paul, 64, a former carer for Lambeth Social Services was convicted of 17 historical sexual offences against four male victims at Lambeth children’s home in South Vale between 1980 and 1988.
Paul, of Clephane Road, Islington, was sentenced to 13 years on Thursday January 14 at Blackfriars Crown Court for offences of indecent assault and indecency.
Detective Superintendent Ang Scott, from the specialist crime and operations command, said yesterday: “Paul was responsible for the care of his victims; the ultimate position of trust.
“He used that power to take advantage and commit the most serious of crimes against them.
“I commend the bravery of the victims who were forced to relive their experiences in open court.
“It is their testimonies which bought Paul to justice today, and I hope they take some comfort from that.”
The first victim came forward in October 2012, further victims were identified as a result of police inquiries and Paul was arrested at his home on March 13 2012.
