A woman who was found dead in the River Thames at Wandsworth Bridge last week has been named as 24-year-old Charlotte Sophie Brown.
Charlotte, who preferred to be known as Charli, lived in East Finchley but was originally from Welling.
At around 11.45pm on December 8, police responded to reports of shouting coming from the River Thames at Plantation Wharf, Wandsworth Bridge.
Officers from Wandsworth borough and the Marine Support Unit attended alongside the National Police Air Service, the Coastguard, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.
Charli and a 29-year-old man were recovered from the water and taken to hospital, and a boat was later recovered from the water at the scene.Charli died at hospital.
A post-mortem held on Decmber 11 at St George’s Hospital mortuary didn’t establish a cause of death and the coroner ordered further tests.
The 29-year-old man was subsequently discharged from hospital. He has not been arrested and has assisted officers as a significant witness.
Wandsworth detectives investigated alongside the Port of London Authority and in consultation with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch. The incident is not believed to be suspicious.
An inquest will open tomorrow under the Wandsworth Coroner.
