Sadiq Khan has called for newly-elected Conservative candidate for London mayor Zac Goldsmith to oppose the Conservative housing bill.
Mr Khan congratulated his opponent on his candidacy but challenged the environmental campaigner to put Londoners before his party.
He tweeted: “Congrats Zac Goldsmith, now put Londoners ahead of your Party, join me in opposing the Tories’ Housing Bill’.

In a speech at Labour conference last week Mr Khan offered to work with his Conservative opponent to ‘defend the capital’s housing’.
Mr Goldsmith addressed the issue of housing in his winning speech.
He said: “The biggest challenge of all is the housing crisis.
“Londoners are being priced out of their city and we will need a step change in the number of homes built, and the manner in which they are built.”
