AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley knows his defence is going to need to be on the top of its game when Notts County visit Kingsmeadow tomorrow.
The Magpies have experienced Jon Stead and Izale McLeod leading their front line and they have been in lethal form so far this season.
Former MK Dons forward McLeod switched from Crawley Town for £100,000 this summer having scored 21 goals for them last season – and has hit the net three times in his past two games for his new club.
“I think they’re a team that will get better as things go on,” Ardley told the club website.
“They signed McLeod three weeks into the season and he hasn’t had a pre-season so they’ve got to get him up to speed but he’s not done badly so far, scoring three in two.
“When you can spend six figures on a forward that’s going to be a positive thing in this league.
“They’ve got Jon Stead as well so there’s no shortage of firepower.”
“They’re very good going forward but they’ve had one or two issues at the back-line.”
Ardley goes in to the game missing only summer signing Lyle Taylor, who serves the second match of his three-game ban after being sent off against Mansfield Town.
They are on a four-game unbeaten streak in the league and Adebayo Akinfenwa will be hoping to kickstart a goalscoring run after heading home in last week’s draw with Yeovil Town.
Notts County were relegated from League One last season but have struggled and find themselves in 18th, having leaked 12 goals in seven league games.
They will be without injured defensive duo Civard Sprockel and Elliot Hewitt tomorrow.
