A homeless dog is sporting the England kit today to mark the Rugby World Cup kick off tonight.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home resident Nala, has her paws crossed for England as they prepare to play against Fiji in the opening game of the tournament.
The Battersea team is hoping someone will come forward to take the patriotic pup off the bench and give her a try.
Head of Dog Rehoming Rob Young said: “All Nala wants to do is watch the England games, but there’s no TV for her in kennels so she’s missing out on cheering for her boys.
“Our very own England super-fan desperately needs a sofa in front of the TV so she can back the big men in white to win.
“Nala is such a sweetheart and she needs experienced dog owners, which might be part of the reason why she hasn’t found a home yet.”
Almost 2000 dogs have found new families during Nala’s stay at Battersea, but sadly the loyal and loving Staffie has had little interest from potential owners.
She is now the charity’s most capped player and has been in the Home for 230 days – more than six times the average stay for a dog.
Rob added: “People see a brindle Staffie and don’t look twice, but what they’re missing is a loving dog that could really enrich their lives.
“Nala is full of energy so she’ll need consistent training if she’s to make the starting XV.
“Battersea rehomes dogs all across the UK so if there’s anyone that can offer Nala a home we’d love to hear from you – but you’ll need to be a Chris Robshaw fan too!”
The two-year old Staffie is currently with a foster family but she is looking to find her forever home.
