Labour and Co-op MP for Croydon North, Steve Reed, has accepted a shadow cabinet position under new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Steve Reed, who gained his constituency seat in 2012, tweeted his delight at remaining on the front benches as shadow minister for local government today.
Corbyn’s shadow cabinet shuffle has seen many prominent Labour MPs return to the back benches, including Streatham MP Chuka Umunna, an early leadership challenger.
I’m delighted to accept Jeremy Corbyn’s offer to be Labour’s shadow minister for local government. Now we take the fight to the Tories.

Some would argue that the move is a step down from his previous appointment as shadow Home Office minister under former leader Ed Miliband.
