Norwich 4-2 Fulham
Kit Symons is looking ahead to next season as Fulham ended the current campaign with defeat at Norwich City.
The loss saw Fulham finish in 17th in a disappointing first season in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League 12 months ago.
But manager Symons is already turning his attention to the new season as he aims to regroup and learn the lessons from the past few months.
He said: “We need to learn from the mistakes that we made this season, regroup and rebuild.
“It was a tough season, taking over with one point from the first 21 was always going to be tough and it was.
“I was under no illusions when I took the job on but we managed to fight and scrap and keep our Championship status which was vital for this club.”
Midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe was similarly looking towards next season.
He said: “We’ve learnt lessons. Even coming to Norwich and seeing how they play, they play attractive football but they’re nice and solid and hard to break down.
“I think we’ve got to do better at both ends before we can push on. Over the summer there will be changes and Kit can stamp his own way on how he wants us to play.
“We’ll be much better next season.”
Fulham went in to the last ten minutes 3-0 down after goals from Bradley Johnson, Nathan Redmond and Graham Dorrans.
Matt Smith volleyed in a consolation for Fulham after 83 minutes before Johnson scored at both ends in stoppage time to finish the scoring.
Symons added: “Norwich are a very good side. They have a good balance between creative players and pace but I still expected more from us.
“We finished the season off well at home and we wanted to do it away from home as well.
“Our away support has been excellent this year and we wanted to give them something to cheer about but it wasn’t a great performance by any stretch.”
