One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik won’t be replaced by Tooting MP Sadiq Khan, Ed Miliband has revealed.
Speaking at the Muslim News Awards for Excellence earlier this week, Mr Miliband stressed that the Labour MP had no desire to fill Malik’s boots despite having the requisite talents.
Mr Miliband joked: “I do want to say to you because of rumours that have been broken in the last few hours that there is no truth to the idea that he is going to replace Zayn Malik in One Direction.
“He’s got plenty of more important things to do. But he can sing very well in case you wondered.”

Mr Sadiq, currently serving as Shadow Lord Chancellor for the Opposition, is not the first person to be linked to the coveted position.
Others considered capable of donning the sultry jacket of One Direction’s fifth and most mysterious asset includes disgraced Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
Despite the coincidental timing of their unemployment, the controversial petrol head has been given odds of 250/1 by Paddy Power to join 1D.
Following the on-point quip, the Labour leader addressed a number of serious issues, including hate crime against Muslims.
Mr Miliband announced that a Labour government would carry out a review into the number of members of ethnic minorities involved in politics.
He said: “The current government has carried out a review into women in politics.
“We will do the same for ethnic diversity if Labour forms the next government because this should be a principle of our public life, from the police to the judiciary to the public service, reflecting the diversity of our nation.”
