Solent Devils 3-3 Streatham Redskins
Streatham Redskins suffered double disappointment in National Ice Hockey League South One this weekend as they lost at London Raiders and drew at Solent Devils.
Goals from Adam Wood, Louis Lockwood and Steven Fisher were not enough for Streatham on Saturday as three quick Raiders goals settled the contest in the second period.
The Redskins then threw away a two-goal lead against Solent 24-hours later to make it one win in their past six games as their concerning form continued.
The weekend results see Streatham remain in fourth but slip eight points behind league leaders Chelmsford Chieftains.
On Saturday. Wood’s 11th league goal of the season gave the Redskins the lead after just 13 minutes.
However, London Raiders dominated the second period and, despite a goal from Lockwood, led 5-2 heading into the closing stages.
Fisher then made the most of a late power play to score a consolation goal and reduce Streatham’s arrears to two.
On Sunday, Redskins faced a Solent Devils side who had won just once in their past six games.
Jakub Kilma scored after six minutes to put Streatham in control. Fisher and Wood then scored either side of Solent’s Jamie Fitzpatrick to lead 3-1 in the final period.
However, Streatham paid the price for conceding four penalties in the last nine minutes of the game.
Ralf Circenis and Andrew Magee both found the net late on to snatch victory from the Redskins and compound a miserable weekend for the south Londoners.
Elsewhere Chelmsford Chieftains made it five wins in a row as they beat title rivals Invicta Dynamos 6-1 to go top of the table.
Whitlink Raiders won 5-2 against Cardiff Devils to move to within a point of Streatham.
Streatham face Chelmsford at home next week and will look to get back to winning ways against the leaders.
