Kingston bobbies will swap their police helmets for Santa hats this month to give presents to disadvantaged children across the borough.
They’ve teamed up with Kingston First, Kingston Job Centre Plus and children’s charity Growbaby to make sure that hundreds of children in care across the borough get a special Christmas present delivered to them this year.
Kingston Borough Commander Glenn Tunstall said: “I’m very proud that Kingston Police are joining with partners and community charities to provide gifts for children across the borough, who may not be as fortunate as some others.
“I hope that our Christmas tree initiative will bring some extra happiness to these children at this magical time of year.”
People are being invited to give a gift by collecting a tagged ribbon from the ‘Give a Gift’ Christmas tree in The Rose Theatre foyer and then emailing Kingston Police to receive details of the child to buy a gift for.
The gifts will be for children aged from three to 17 years and benefit those in care across the borough.
To ensure all the children receive their gift in time for Christmas they are urging everyone to email here by December 19.
The suggested spend for gifts this year is no more than £20.
