Rosslyn Park concentrating on Tynedale as huge Ealing Trailfinders game approaches

Rosslyn Park 29-19 Darlington Mowden Park

Rosslyn Park face Tynedale this Saturday aiming to keep up the pressure on league leaders Ealing Trailfinders ahead of their crunch game on December 13.

Last weekend, Park overcame a stern challenge from Darlington Mowden Park to secure a 29-19 bonus-point win despite being down to 13 men at one point.

That victory, coupled with Ealing’s 32-26 defeat at Coventry, means Park are now within a point of the table toppers and would have been top of National 1 but for a last-minute Ealing try which brought them two bonus points.

The game between the two later this month promises to be one of the matches of the season in the league, but before that, Park face the long trip up to Northumberland to play Tynedale.

Their hosts are currently going through a period of poor form, but Park head coach Alex Codling is expecting them to raise their game.

“The trip to Tynedale is a personal favourite of mine,” he said.

“Despite a couple of tough results lately, their recent home win against Fylde shows that we will have to be at our best to get the result we would like.

“Last weekend, I thought our work ethic and intensity was outstanding against a very physical and well organised Darlington team.

“It was highlighted by the fact we scored the bonus point try when we were down to 13 men.

“A special mention for the supporters who turned out in excellent numbers despite the England game, it meant a huge amount to the players.”

Park’s tries came from skipper Hugo Ellis, flankers Mike McFarlane and Sam Shires and a penalty try, while fly-half Louis Grimoldby kicked nine points.
