Hear’Say singer Noel Sullivan to embark on gruelling Kilimanjaro charity trek with Rock of Ages co-stars

Hear’Say singer Noel Sullivan is set to embark on a mammoth charity trek up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.

The Welsh actor and singer aims to raise £10,000 for baby bereavement support charity The Lullaby Trust and premature baby charity Bliss.

Noel is in Wimbledon for the final leg of the Rock of Ages UK tour but instead of looking forward to a well-earned rest he is instead preparing to scale the 5,891m Tanzanian mountain with two co-stars.

He told SW Londoner: “We’ve been really busy training for the trek. We finished in Southend on the Saturday then drove overnight to climb Snowdonia, got four hour’s sleep last night and are now here for our first show tonight!”

The Cardiff native will be scaling the famous mountain during the eight-day climb along with Australian talent Daniel Fletcher and Over the Rainbow finalist Lauren Samuels as ‘Rock Trek’.

The charities are of particular importance to Noel as he lost two siblings and, at that time, resources and support for his family were limited.

At six months old his brother Dominic tragically died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and just three years his sister Alicia-Monique died prematurely aged just nine days of complications relating to a brain tumour.

Noel said: “I wanted to find a way to honour my siblings’ memory and I feel these charities best serve this purpose and fulfil a promise that other families in the future will benefit from their tremendous work.”

Once the group have reached their target they each plan to kick back, relax and enjoy their free time.

Daniel will be heading back to his native Australia while Noel will be enjoying his first Christmas off in seven years.

“We spend eight days climbing Kilimanjaro and come back on the 20th of December,” he explained. “Then I plan to my feet up in some toasty socks in front of the fire and eat turkey!”
