London Scottish director of rugby Mike Friday was disappointed that his side could not grind out a victory against Moseley at Billesley Common.
Peter Lydon kicked a penalty to give Scottish the lead but two penalties from Sam Olver gave Mosley a 6-3 lead at the break.
Drew Cheshire’s scored the only try of the match in the second-half to hand victory to Moseley, and Friday felt that the poor conditions played a part in his sides defeat.
He said: “When the treacherous conditions came in and the rain was pouring down we knew it was going to be a tall order and a real tough struggle.
“When they had a little possession the weather just eased for three or four minutes and they made that count.
“They had one opportunity and they took it and that was the difference.
“It was very heavy under foot and with the wind and rain the line-outs were very difficult to win. It made the game a bit of a lottery but that’s the way rugby goes sometimes and you’ve got to play in all conditions and unfortunately we just came out the wrong side.
“We had opportunities to probably make our pressure pay into the corners and we didn’t quite take that and it’s the little things like that that make the difference when you’re playing in those conditions.”
Scottish used a number of academy players in the match and gave a debut to Todd Gleave and Friday was pleased with their performances.
“Credit to the young guys,” he said. “They showed the right attitude and endeavour in what were very difficult conditions.”
“These are the places where they will learn how to play and where they will get life experiences that make them better rugby players.”
