Charity teaches Mitcham teens to be good sports with free basketball tournament

A free basketball tournament for children and teens will be held in Mitcham on Tuesday.

Sports charity B2B Basketball will be running the event and are urging anyone aged between 11 and 19 to sign up.

At the start of the day, there will be coaching sessions and then the participants will compete in a group stage and knockout competition.

There will be three age categories, U-14, 16 and 19 of girls’ as well as boys’ teams.

The charity aim to get young people into a more active life and involve them with sport, especially young women.

They also want to promote the qualities in sport, instilling unity, respect and a fair play mentality in the participants.

In B2B basketball, team from two to four participants square up for six minute matches in a half court.

Four to six games are played at the same time to allow all the matches to be played.

So if you have a squad and are raring to go register now for the event at www.playb2b.net.

It will be held at Harris Academy Merton, in Mitcham from 10:00 to 17:00 on October 28.

While basketball may be B2B’s main focus, they also run 3-on-3 football free-style tournaments.

If that’s more up your alley, you might want to check out the B2B’s other events, as they will be taking advantage of schools’ half term breaks to do a mini-tour around London next week.
