There were mixed fortunes for Fulham’s international talent as they took part in games around Europe and beyond over the past few days.
In European Championship qualifying, midfielder Elsad Zverotić played 90 minutes as Montenegro were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw with minnows Liechtenstein.
The visitors hit the woodwork twice within their 28 attempts at goal but were unable to force a breakthrough.
In the same group, Alexander Kačaniklić , currently on loan at FC Copenhagen, came on as a late substitute for Sweden as they held Fabio Capello’s Russia to a 1-1 draw at home.
George Williams helped Wales gain a 0-0 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina after coming on as an 83rd minute substitute, a result that maintains Wales’ chances of progression.
It was a night to forget however for Bulgarian defender Nikolay Bodurov as his own goal proved to be decisive in his country going down 1-0 to Croatia.
Veteran goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly was also involved, getting booked as his Hungary side scored a late equaliser to draw 1-1 in Romania.
Away from Europe, Mananga Jonathan Buatu played in Angola’s 0-0 draw with Lesotho in African Cup of Nations Qualifying.
Bryan Ruiz played 90 minutes in Costa Rica’s goal filled 4-3 friendly victory over Oman, in which the Asian side hit back from 4-1 down.
Fulham also had several junior internationals on duty this week with 18-year-old forward Moussa Dembele the pick of the bunch.
He scored the winner as France under 19’s began their European championship qualifying with a 2-1 victory over Macedonia on Wednesday before coming off the bench to score the fifth in a 6-0 rout over Liechtenstein.
