Chelsea legends may return to starting line-up for clash against Bolton at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are expected to make wholesale changes to their side as they welcome Bolton to Stamford Bridge for their 3rd round Capital One Cup Clash.

Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard are all likely to be rested, but there will still be an array of international talent on display as fringe players aim to impress coach José Mourinho.

This could mean a first Chelsea start for French striker Loic Remy who arrived from QPR in the transfer window.

The fixture could also see the return of two Chelsea legends to the starting line-up. Didier Drogba, who is looking for his first Chelsea goal since firing them to Champions League glory over two years ago, could partner Remy upfront, while Petr Cech is due back in goal after being relegated to the bench with the arrival of Thibault Courtouis.

Chelsea will hope regain some of their early momentum after two consecutive draws and reignite their otherwise perfect start to the season.

Bolton on the other hand find themselves just above the Championship’s relegation zone after a solitary win in their opening eight fixtures.

The two sides last met on February 2012, when Chelsea beat Bolton 3-0 at the Bridge.

Didier Drogba is the only goalscorer that day still at the club, with David Luiz and Frank Lampard having left Chelsea this summer.

Though the League Cup finds itself low on Chelsea’s priorities for the season, this still has all the ingredients to be an absorbing contest.
