Fulham desperate for first win of season against Blackburn Rovers after Magath exit

Fulham’s Saturday Championship match against Blackburn Rovers will be their most scrutinized game of the season.

Manager Felix Magath was fired on Thursday following a disastrous start to the year. Kit Symons is to be caretaker manager for tomorrow’s game, held at Craven Cottage, but is allegedly interested in the position full time.

Fulham are sitting bottom of the table with just one point, despite being the bookies’ favourite to win at the start of the season, while Blackburn are at 13th with 10 points.

The last time the two teams met was in 2012 at Ewood Park when both teams were in the Premier League and it finished 3-1 to Blackburn – with such an inexperienced Fulham side, the score line could read similarly this time round.

Over the summer transfer window Fulham signed striker Ross McCormack for a staggering £11 million and is tipped to be their star man of the season.

However having scored countless goals at old club Leeds United, McCormack has failed to carry on this form at Craven Cottage.

Blackburn Rovers will look to their lethal super striker Jordan Rhodes to get their first win in three games. The Lancashire lad has scored 55 goals in his last 96 appearances.

Creative midfielder Ben Marshall has also had a brilliant start to the season and is currently their second top goal scorer.

With an already young and naïve Fulham side, a lack of structure and authority at the top will could be damning for the confidence of the fledgling team.
